Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a takeoff cost?
We use a tiered pricing structure to reward you for bundling trades. The first trade is $199 (up to 15 pages). If you add a second trade, it is $149 (25% off). A third trade is just $99 (50% off). If a specific trade section exceeds 15 pages, there is a simple fee of $15 per extra page.
My PDF file contains other pages (Civil, Structural, Architectural). Do I need to separate them first?
No. You can upload the full plan set as-is. Our AI agent is trained on over 200 page codes to detect exactly which sheets belong to which trade. It automatically skips architectural and civil pages and only analyzes the ones relevant to the trades you selected. You are never billed for the pages we skip.
How long does it take to get my results?
Speed is our biggest advantage. Once you upload your plans, BidSwift processes the data and emails you the completed material list in 10 to 15 minutes. There is no need to sit at the computer wasting valuable time—we will notify you the moment it's ready.
Can I run a takeoff for multiple trades at once?
Yes. When uploading your PDF, simply select all the trades you need (e.g., Plumbing and HVAC). The AI will process them simultaneously but generate separate, distinct data files for each trade to ensure accuracy. You will automatically receive the multi-trade discounts on the 2nd and 3rd trades.
What file format do I get back?
We deliver your data as a clean CSV or JSON file. These are industry-standard formats that allow you to easily import the data directly into your existing estimating software or copy/paste it into Excel to apply your labor rates and markups.
Is my data and client information secure?
Absolutely. Unlike many competitors, all our servers are located in North America. Your blueprints are processed securely on this continent and are never sent overseas for human review. We guarantee your data stays private and compliant.
Do I need to install any special software to use BidSwift?
No installation is required. BidSwift is cloud-based and works on any device with an internet connection. If you receive a bid request at 2:00 PM on a Friday, you can upload the PDF from your phone, receive the email results by 2:15 PM, and have your bid submitted by 3:00 PM—all without heading back to the office.
How accurate are the AI takeoffs?
BidSwift is trained on 20 years of hands-on MEP experience, delivering 90-95% accuracy. While our AI handles the heavy lifting of counting and identifying materials, we always recommend a final review by your estimator to verify the last 5% and account for specific job-site nuances.
My blueprints are complex. Can the AI tell the difference between specific fittings?
Yes. Unlike generic counting software, BidSwift was built by a Red Seal technician and understands MEP symbology. It distinguishes between specific components, such as a reducing tee versus a standard tee, to give you a realistic material list.
What file formats can I upload?
We accept standard PDF blueprints. For the highest accuracy, we recommend uploading original digital PDFs (vector files) exported directly from design software, rather than scanned paper copies or blurry images.
What happens if I am not satisfied with the results?
We stand behind our tool. If the AI completely misses the mark on a legible set of plans, please contact our support team immediately—we will make it right or issue a refund.
